In Barnstable County, Massachusetts, Scusset Beach State Reservation is a state-operated public recreation area. This beach-side park is located east of the Cape Cod Canal. This park used to be part of the Sagamore Hill Military Reservation, but now is operated by the state. The reservation is open to the public for swimming, fishing, hiking, biking, and nature-based activities. You can even watch the boats come and go at the 3,000-foot stone jetty.
You can also enjoy the water at Scusset Beach. The water is calm and often a bit chilly. It is safe for children to play in the clear, cool water. A large sand bar is available at low tide. The park is adjacent to the Shawme-Crowell State Forest, which offers 98 RV sites, though the campground is closed during off-season.
